It is in the freedom from the known that one may experience a state of stillness. And a state of just being. Shilpi Arora's works have been an attempt to create an expression out of that silence.
An MBA by qualification, she started her painting journey in the year 2013.
With no formal training in art, Shilpi set forth to explore colours passionately, which at some point, organically led her to getting wildly drawn to textures. By using different materials along with the colours, she discovered a language of her own which seemed to be emerging from the hidden passages of her subconscious self.
Textures as they begin to manifest in her work, evoke a pattern and design akin to what we see in the abundance of nature around us, be it the bark of a tree, or a mossy rock, seaside pebbles or even a decaying leaf! They all are drawn from years of exposure to the forces of nature, those very forces that also makes us. It is thus this energy that she inherently connects to and tries representing through her works.
Touch them, feel them, and you may know?
Shilpi currently resides in Mumbai with her husband, daughter and two cats
